Mission Statement

We promote healing, hope, and empowerment through education and comprehensive physical and mental health services. Our focus is on maternal health and support for girls in foster care.

About This Cause

Our programs offer an array of support and services to help women and families thrive. Our programs provide 24/7 residential, counseling, education, treatment, and prevention services for women and children who are working to break cycles of trauma, neglect, and abuse. These programs are specifically designed to support the health, safety, and futures as we counsel and empower our women to be self-sufficient. We offer services through four primary programs: 1. Our Maternity Program is a residential program that supports pregnant girls and women living in crisis and in need of a healthy and safe environment. Here, we support women of any age through their pregnancy and up to the delivery of their baby, ensuring they receive vital prenatal care and education. During their stay, mothers-to-be work towards a sustainable transition into the community. 2. Sarah’s House is a residential program for young mothers (ages 14-21) and their children who are both in foster care. Here, adolescent mothers learn hands-on-parenting skills while under supportive staff supervision. Mothers prepare for self-sufficiency and independence once they age out of foster care. 3. Our Independent Living Program, Legacy Hall, supports and educates adolescent females in foster care, generally ages 16-21, empowering them to make positive life choices and thrive independently and transition into adulthood. 4. The Aftercare Parenting Education Program (APEP) supports clients living in the Charlotte and surrounding who have completed our Maternity or Sarah’s House programs. Clients continue to receive support and resources through a home visitation program. Our clients come from low-income families, and many are survivors of sexual/ physical abuse, incest, neglect, trafficking, substance use disorder, and mental illness. Living through traumatic situations results in these adolescents and women living in survival mode from day to day. Crittenton provides a safe and healthy environment where their basic needs are met. We then focus on addressing underlying causes through case management and trauma informed therapy treatments, allowing them to change their focus from living in survival mode to focusing on creating a better future for themselves and their family. All clients are served through our Educational and Vocational Program. Through one-on-one and group sessions, we provide the support and assistance our clients need to reach their goals.
