About This Cause
Carteret County Partnership for Children's vision is: 'All children will have the best childhood possible in order to reach their full potential.' Our programs focus on the needs of children. This includes providing technical assistance and guidance to child care facilities, supporting them in providing child care/preschool of the highest quality in the areas of development, health and education. The result is a child ready and eager to learn and able to reach their full potential, starting in Kindergarten and continuing to adulthood. For the children outside of child care the Partnership provides a literacy based part time play group for children and caregivers encouraging social and personal development with an emphasis on literacy. The Partnership provides in-home counseling to at risk families that includes support and guidance with basic nurturing, parenting practices, child development, family relationships, employment, medical resources and all areas of home management resulting in more stable and productive life choices and the improvement of the quality of life with a greater chance of success for the children involved. The Partnership provides family therapy to the most at risk families that includes individual therapy, support and guidance for parents struggling with drug and alcohol abuse, incarceration, domestic abuse, homelessness, unemployment and other social and individual circumstances and experiences. The Partnership provides vouchers for child care for low income families, creating stability for the caregivers in the workplace or training environment and allowing the children the opportunity to receive the benefits of child care/preschool. The Partnership partners with area medical practices providing books at well child visits as a 'prescription' for daily reading to the child, promoting literacy and preparing for learning. The Partnership also partners with Dolly Parton Imagination Library providing books to all enrolled children in Carteret County.
