The goal of Friends of the Palo Alto Parks is to work with the city of Palo Alto, with private groups, with other nonprofits, and with citizen organizations to have the best possible parks and open spaces in our city.

About This Cause

The goal of Friends of the Palo Alto Parks is to work with the city of Palo Alto, with private groups, with other nonprofits, and with citizen organizations to have the best possible parks and open spaces in our city. To achieve this goal, the organization has three main objectives: •Provide funding to enrich, enhance, and beautify Palo Alto’s parks and open space preserves •Foster greater public awareness, appreciation, and ownership of these treasured assets •Raise funds to assist in purchasing additional parkland and open space Friends of the Palo Alto Parks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. We continue to have many successes in enhancing parks in Palo Alto. Proud accomplishments include: MITCHELL PARK/MAGICAL BRIDGE Sponsoring a new kind of playground where everyone can play – bridging the gap between those with and without special needs in our community LYTTON PLAZA PARK Co-sponsoring (with the Palo Alto Downtown Association) the public/private partnership that renovated and revitalized Lytton Plaza HERITAGE PARK Working with the city of Palo Alto and the Heritage Park Playground LLC to develop Palo Alto's newest park and children's play area BOL PARK Assisting with fundraising for Phase II and the recently completed Phase III of the Native Plant Garden at Bol Park along with continuing maintenance support. JUANA BRIONES PARK Funding an educational history display (cross section of a redwood tree showing time lines relating to Juana Briones' life) FOOTHILLS PARK Assisting Friends of Foothills Park in securing a grant from the Packard Foundation to recruit new and enthusiastic members LAWN BOWLING GREEN Assisting in fundraising to refurbish the clubhouse as needed ELEANOR PARDEE PARK Raising funds for a park bench PEARSON ARASTRADERO PRESERVE Receiving grants from the Palo Alto Community Fund and from the Palo Alto Rotary Club to complete the interpretive exhibits at the Gateway Nature Center RINCONADA PARK Working with the Kiwanis Club and the City to refresh and maintain planting beds
