Mission Statement
Imagine the day when we can all experience optimum health and wellness to pursue our dreams, not having to worry about health issues like chronic illness, cancer, and / or aging body parts. For patients and their families, who are searching beyond conventional treatments for additional hope and prevention, AlterMed Research Foundation augments conventional medicine with evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine leveraging latest lifestyle management and technologies (like AI and genomics) to provide optimum wellness. Forty percent of Americans use complementary and alternative medicine. AlterMed Research Foundation hosts integrative medicine conferences granting continuing medical education credits to physicians and mental/integrative health practitioners in the area of mind-body medicine and lifestyle management. We also vet and fund research in evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine at major institutions like University of Colorado, Harvard, University of Nevada, and University of Wisconsin. We are also helping underserved patients with patient access to evidence-based integrative healthcare services for cancer and chronic illness.
About This Cause
AlterMed Research Foundation was founded in May of 2006. We take care of patient's holistic needs for optimum wellness beyond conventional medicine. We do this through community collaborations with universities, organizations, and health professionals / researchers to support evidence-based integrative medicine research and education as well as assisting with patient access. With the advancement of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Machine Learning, Big Data, Genomics, and Epigenetics, patients are beginning to understand the uniqueness of each of us and seek personalized medicine / nutrition through the power of combining technology with medicine and healthcare. One size does not fit all when it comes to medical treatment unless the cause is the same for patients who react similarly. Instead of conventional medicine treating symptoms, more people are demanding the understanding of disease mechanisms for more effective and targeted treatments, like precision medicine. Since AlterMed Research Foundation's inception, we have conducted four Colorado Integrative Medicine Conferences impacting over a million patients. We have also funded seven complementary and alternative medicine studies at universities: three of them in mindfulness for asthma, stress reduction, and recurrent depression; one was a cancer patient usage survey which we found 87% of patients at the University of Colorado hospital use complementary and alternative medicine; one to further understand the nano-particle nature of homeopathy since over 500 million people in the world use it and the mechanism is not easily understood by conventional medicine. and one in Hispanic folk medicine for pain management. Our mission is to be a change agent, through research and education, to fully integrate evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine into conventional health care so all people can enjoy optimum wellness. We host integrative medicine conferences to train health practitioners in the area of mind-body medicine and lifestyle management. Our conference is certified by ACCME through the University of Colorado to grant physicians and health professionals credits. We also vet and fund evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine research at major institutions. Our vision is that someday all people can be well free of cancer and chronic diseases.
