About This Cause
Meals on Wheels of Greenville is a well-known and respected non-profit agency in Greenville County. With over 55 years of service to homebound, elderly and disabled friends and neighbors in Greenville County, Meals on Wheels represents the commitment of our individual neighborhoods, community associations, corporate and faith-based partners and caring citizens to providing not only daily nutrition but also human kindness, companionship and a sense of well-being for those who lack the day to day support that many of us take for granted. Most of us are fortunate to have the ability to leave our homes, to work or go to school, to have outside activities and ease of mobility for grocery shopping, preparing a meal or going to a restaurant. Many of our homebound clients used to enjoy these same freedoms. However; due to age, health restrictions, financial hurdles and circumstances of life, each day almost 1,500 individuals rely on Meals on Wheels of Greenville to deliver the most basic of human needs, a hot and nutritious meal and a time of caring interaction and personal outreach. While our extended programming, menu offerings and volunteer engagement opportunities have changed and expanded since our beginning in 1968, our common goals and needs remain the same. We strive to ensure that every homebound individual in our service area who needs a daily, nutritious meal can be served regardless of any eligibility barriers. We rely on thousands of dedicated volunteers in our communities to guarantee the vital lifeline between our organization and our clients. We serve where need exists and depend upon the funding given by individuals, corporate partners, philanthropic organizations, and special event sponsors to maintain our financial resources so that we may continue our mission of service to the homebound.
