Mission Statement
The mission of the Harry R.E. Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund Inc. is to receive private funds to assist in educational and other endeavors which are designed to contribute to the conservation and protection of the wildlife and marine resources of the State of South Carolina.
About This Cause
The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation established in 1982 and a fund-raising organization registered with the S.C. Secretary of State. The Hampton Fund partners with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for the promotion of natural resources and natural resource education which benefits the conservation of wildlife, marine and other resources in South Carolina. Funds are obtained solely through private donations and special promotional projects, fund-raising events and publications. Monies are applied to very specific, yet far-reaching goals. Contributions are administered by an all-volunteer board of directors comprised of 14 South Carolinians committed to responsible natural resources management and education. The Hampton Fund realizes we must strive to help urban growth and natural habitats complement, rather than compete with one another, promote wildlife diversity and other conservation and education measures. As South Carolinians, we are custodians of our state, almost as if South Carolina were an estate held in trust. We must invest in it wisely to ensure its preservation not only for ourselves, but also for generations to come. The Fund offers an unprecedented opportunity for just such an investment…an investment imperative to the future well-being of one of your greatest assets; your state’s wildlife and marine resources. To date, HWF has awarded over $4 million to SCDNR for projects not supported by state or federal funding and has gifted over $600,000 in scholarships to deserving S.C. students attending S.C. colleges and universities.
