About This Cause
The Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center (Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center) is a Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) accredited by the National Children's Alliance. CACs are a nationally-recognized model for coordinating the response when there is a concern for abuse. Accredited CACs utilize a highly skilled and effective multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigation, prosecution, and treatment. At Dee Norton, our trained, licensed clinicians use the CAC model for helping to identify whether abuse has occurred. Evidence-based treatment programs like those at Dee Norton reduce symptoms among children who are experiencing distress and also reduce the likelihood of delinquent and/or criminal behavior as a result of untreated trauma associated with abuse.
