Mission Statement

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. (ARMHC) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to serving the needs of children, by providing temporary housing and support services to families of ill and injured children being treated at local hospitals.

About This Cause

The cornerstone program, the Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses, began in 1979 when the first Atlanta House opened on Houston Mill Road to serve children receiving medical treatment at Atlanta hospitals. A second House opened in 1994 on Peachtree Dunwoody Road. The two Houses provided a combined total of 27 bedrooms and served nearly 30,000 families. The Houston Mill House closed May 2008 to prepare for the opening of a new House less than a mile away. In June 2008 a beautiful state-of-the art 50-bedroom Ronald McDonald House opened on Gatewood Road near Emory University replacing the 16-bedroom House on Houston Mill Road to meet the growing need. Each year, the Atlanta Houses will serve nearly 2,000 families of ill and injured children. Since opening our doors in 1979 ARMHC has served more than 44,000 families.
