Mission Statement

The Women's Center of Wake County used evidence-based practices to provide stability and housing for single women experiencing homelessness.

About This Cause

The Women’s Center has been an established and welcoming portal of entry for homeless women for over 45 years. We provide a safe, low barrier, non-judgmental, client-centered and trauma sensitive environment for women, where they can begin the stabilization and healing process. As agents of community support, The Women’s Center provides basic human needs, such as meals, hygiene, clothing, showers, laundry services, mail services, computer lab, medical co-pays, and extended critical services such as primary, behavioral, and women’s healthcare, clinical/case management, job support/employment, therapeutic classes and workshops. STAR STORE INCENTIVE PROGRAM This affirming program acknowledges and rewards the positive choices and actions that clients undertake and achieve, including credits for participating in case management and clinical appointments, attending wellness and support groups and activities, meeting goals, completing applications, and signing up on WC’s daily responsibilities list. Bonuses are provided for “caught doing the right thing” actions. Clients can cash in their “credits” – their Star Dollars – for small items such as gift cards, cosmetics, and new personal items (i.e., wallets, ear buds, umbrellas, and jewelry).
