Art for all. Artsplosure produces quality events that make the works of the region’s most imaginative and celebrated artists accessible to the public, all in an effort to enrich our community and inspire increased appreciation for and participation in the visual and performing arts.
About This Cause
Artsplosure - The Raleigh Arts Festival was founded in 1978 to present festivals that combine an “explosion” of art activity with people’s “exposure” to all types of art. It incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization the following year and produced its first festival in 1980. Since then, Artsplosure’s “Art for All” productions have offered a wide variety of top quality, family friendly art in most every discipline, ranging from temporary visual art installations to variety performers, puppeteers, dancers, theatrical companies, visual artists, fine crafters, multimedia artists, filmmakers, poets, comedians, and popular, traditional, and classical musicians. Artsplosure festivals are noted for featuring interactive performers that break down the barriers separating artists and audiences and artists on the verge of mainstream acclaim. Artsplosure’s award winning discovery festivals are well attended, consistently retaining existing and attracting new audiences. Artsplosure’s namesake festival on the third weekend in May and its First Night Raleigh celebration on New Year’s Eve together attract 125,000 people or more each year. Audiences spend over $2,000,000 annually, mostly on local goods and services, while attending Artsplosure presentations. The overall economic impact tops $5,000,000 each year. Artsplosure festivals offer sponsors unique opportunities to build name and brand recognition and to interact with future employees and potential customers. Because of the broad demographic and geographic reach of Artsplosure presentations, its sponsors are viewed as being good corporate citizens, employers, and advocates for building better communities.
