Mission Statement

MISSION The mission of the Southeast Community Cultural Center is to maintain a vibrant, multi-disciplinary, intergenerational, and multi-ethnic environment for arts and learning. We provide access to arts education, foster cultural exchange, and create opportunities for local artists and residents to engage in creative expression. Our facility, ArtsXchange, is where our programs take place, cultivating a thriving and inclusive arts community that positively affects the economic, social, and quality-of-life aspects of artists and our extended community. We aim to connect our local community to a global network of artists and creators through our commitment to cultural exchange. We offer the necessary tools to address current issues and enhance the quality of life now and in the future. Our center provides affordable studio facilities and support for emerging, mid-career, and established artists. As a BIPOC organization, we deeply respect and value the arts and cultural diversity of the African Diaspora. We celebrate and preserve these rich traditions, utilizing the arts to inspire social change and encouraging positive developments as audiences cultivate a sense of connection and critical thinking.

About This Cause

The ArtsXchange is a 501(c)3 non-profit community-based arts organization. We utilize the arts to amplify and activate community voices. Our event rental spaces provide a venue for a nominal fee for diverse artists-initiated programs and community gatherings. The community event space program allows us to do our part to strengthen the regional economy by creating income-generating opportunities for independent artists in all disciplines, from visual arts to performing arts, and opportunities for civic/community groups, such as local youth clubs and cultural organizations, to share their message and mission. Our audience is as diverse as the communities we serve, coming from across Fulton County -East Point, College Park, Hapeville, South Fulton, and Atlanta; and the surrounding counties of DeKalb, Clayton, Cobb, Fayette, Rockdale, Henry, Douglas, Forsyth, and Gwinnett. We strive to create programs that resonate with each one of our visitors. We are committed to serving a diverse range of individuals, including youth, young professionals, and elders, focusing on the family as a unit. However, they define it. Our doors are open to all who share our passion for the arts. Our programs have a significant impact, reaching an audience of around 12,000 people a year. When you consider the additional number of people who visit our facility for community events and classes offered by our resident artists and event space renters, the total number of annual visitors exceeds 17,000. This is a testament to the arts' power to unite communities. Our annual programs include: Fresh Oasis Community Garden provides garden beds for families and individuals to grow fresh produce, healthy eating, and gardening classes. We offer garden beds FREE to residents in East Point. The Studio Artists Program supports art makers and creatives from emerging to mid-career by providing them with an economic base to sustain their creative careers. We are home to fourteen (14) practicing artists, non-profits, and entrepreneurs. Jack Sinclair Gallery supports six exhibitions annually and curates programming that connects with the exhibition themes: panel discussions, tours, and artist talks. The Literature and Literacy Program offers over 50 literary events annually, from Slams to open Mics, Scrabble, and creative writing workshops. These events foster a love for literature and writing and provide a platform for local writers to showcase their work, enriching our community's cultural landscape. We also sponsor special programs for seniors, such as Visual Art Health and Wellness Classes and community celebrations around Earth Day, Kwanzaa, and Environmental Justice. The Annual Ebon Dooley Arts and Justice Awards, now in its 8th year, honors artists and organizations whose work in the arts enriches the community following the life work and contributions of our founder, Ebon Dooley (Leo Hale). These awards recognize artistic excellence and celebrate the power of art to inspire social change and promote justice in our community.
