Mission Statement
Lucy Daniels Center helps children grow emotionally from the inside out to achieve change that lasts. We are the largest regional provider of mental health services for children from birth to age 12, the time of life when the most effective interventions are possible. Our multi-disciplinary team, which includes recognized experts in mental health and education, works together with families to provide a uniquely comprehensive approach, delivering individualized treatment to each child. We complement this therapeutic regimen with rigorous academic programs through our elementary school and leverage our 30+ years of experience to support community programs serving children.
About This Cause
Our Programs include: SecurePath: Crisis Prevention in Children and Youth Our SecurePath program provides crisis intervention and stabilization for an extremely vulnerable population – the very young and the very poor. By providing free intensive therapy in the home and in the day care, SecurePath ensures that young children are able to maintain childcare stability and have an emotionally stable foundation to enter kindergarten. Lucy Daniels School: pre K-Grade 5 Lucy Daniels School is the only therapeutic program for preschool through grade 5 children who need specialized emotional support in order to reach full academic potential. Family Guidance Service (FGS): Strengthening Families The Family Guidance Service offers evaluations and outpatient mental health services for children through the age of 12 and their families who are dealing with various situations affecting the healthy emotional development of the child. We offer fee reductions (sliding fee scale) for families without health insurance who qualify on the basis of financial need. LDC 4 Early Success: Workshops and Special Programs We help families and caregivers receive practical knowledge and information to help them create an emotionally healthy environment for their children through LDC 4, which contains these units: • First Friends – social skills 8-week program and 2-week summer camp for preK-K; • Lucy’s Link – assessments of children in their home or childcare environment; • Lucy’s Book Club – providing free appropriate reading material stressing positive emotional and social skills, to area childcare centers throughout the Triangle; and • Parent Workshops – free, offering trained educators/therapists on topics ranging from “Is My Child Autistic?” to separation anxiety, eating issues and more.
