Vital Aging Exists to promote the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of Williamsburg County's senior citizens. Services are provided within a framework of love, understanding, and respect to allow an opportunity for mature adults to continue their lives with meaning and purposes
About This Cause
Vital Aging is the county designated provided for Older Americans Act funded services in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. The agency was organized as a 501 ( c ) 3 in 1997 to provide home delivered meals to shut-in and homebound senior citizens. The agency operate three wellness (senior) centers which are located in Greeleyville, Hemingway and Kingstree. In each wellness center a hot nutritious RDA noon day meal is provided along with evidence-based exercise programs, nutrition education, health promotion speakers, games, crafts, field trips, group discussions, blood pressure and weight checks, access to community resources and so much more. The agency provides transportation for each wellness center for those who need transportation. Vital Aging provides homemaker (light housekeeping/errands) services for homebound seniors. As per Older Americans and State Laws - the services are provided free of charge but voluntary client contributions are encouraged. Vital Aging is contracted to provide services with the Waccamaw Area Agency on Aging & Disability Resource Center who provides the initial and annual client assessment for the agency's services. The agency is governed by a 15 member all volunteer board and is staffed for 5 full time employees and 13 part-time employees.
