Mission Statement
Goshen Valley provides hope and healing to foster youth and vulnerable families through relational, trauma-responsive services to cultivate personal healing and generational change.
About This Cause
Goshen Valley is dedicated to transforming the lives of foster youth and vulnerable families through its mission to offer hope and healing via relational, trauma-responsive services. These services are designed to foster personal recovery and promote long-lasting, generational change. Operating primarily in Cobb and Cherokee Counties, Goshen Valley serves an average of 126 foster youths daily and provided support to over 3,000 families in the past year. Since its inception, Goshen Valley has been a leading provider of residential foster care, mental health services, and family support. It has been working closely with Georgia's Division of Family and Children’s Services since 1998, earning a reputation as an innovative leader in the field. This recognition is supported by nearly flawless audit scores in safety, wellness, and permanency. The Goshen Valley Foundation was established in 1999, following the generosity of the Blend family who donated their ranch property to support foster children. John Blend’s leadership led to the creation of the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch in 2001, specifically designed to care for young men in foster care. In 2012, Goshen Valley expanded its services with the creation of Goshen New Beginnings (GNB), an independent living program aimed at helping foster youths aged 18-21 transition to adulthood and self-sufficiency. This program supports their development into independent, thriving adults. The organization further expanded its reach in 2016 with the establishment of Goshen Homes. This initiative focuses on recruiting, training, licensing, and supporting foster families to keep sibling groups together, providing them with the stability and continuity essential for their well-being. In 2019, Goshen Valley took a proactive approach with the introduction of Goshen Therapeutic Services (GTS). GTS aims to prevent the need for foster care placements by strengthening vulnerable families before crisis points arise or aiding in family reunification efforts post-placement. This preventative strategy helps to reduce the overall number of children entering the foster care system. Most recently, in 2023, Goshen Valley purchased and renovated a facility now known as the Goshen Family Resource Center (FRC). This center serves as a hub for various resources and services, addressing underlying issues such as incarceration, affordable housing, employment security, addiction, and mental and behavioral health. The FRC supports families by providing access to crucial services aimed at resolving these root causes. Today, Goshen Valley holds several prestigious recognitions, including accreditation from the Council on Accreditation and multiple awards as an AJC Top Workplace. It is also a North Point Ministries Intersect Partner and maintains a Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency, reflecting its commitment to excellence and transparency in its operations. Through its comprehensive range of services and ongoing commitment to innovation and quality, Goshen Valley continues to be a beacon of hope and support for foster youth and vulnerable families in North Georgia.
