Mothers Raising Sons mission is to: Establish Needs! Educate Minds, Enthuse Godly Talents & Gifts. Empower Purposes! Provide proper guidance for a positive family structure. To provide the boys to men with the foundation, structure, and independence needed to achieve their potential of becoming productive and successful adults for their family and community. MOTTO: A mother cannot be a father nor a positive male role model to her son(s), but she does a great job in playing the role!

About This Cause

“TO CAUSE A POSITIVE CHANGE” Focusing on Solutions! What‘s Right Nowadays? 51% of Males are graduating and enrolled in higher education Thousands are Not: on drugs, in a gang, teen fathers, bullying, involved DJJ. Respectful. Leaders. Responsible. Mannerable. Doing well moral in school, sports, social, spiritual, and on purpose. MRS establish needs, educate minds, enthuse spirits, and empower hope for a brighter future. MRS meets the challenges of a boy being raised by a single female to adulthood through a coordinated, progressive series of programs and services. 1. Virtual Mentoring: 2000 - 2020 Goals Achieved 1) Lisa Norwood received 2019 GA Women’s Legislative Caucus Servant Leadership Yellow Rose for Mothers Raising Sons achievements. 2) Mothers Raising Sons Day at GA State Capitol March 20, 2019 and March 26, 2019 in recognition by Representatives for outstanding contributions to the state of Georgia. 3) Reduced delinquent behavior of male participants by 91% from entering DJJ. 4) Taught all male youths’ life coping strategies design to address and avoid drugs, tobacco, alcohol, bullying and peer pressure, etc. 5) 90% Learned how to become more responsible and make better life choices. 6) 90% Improved male self-esteem through role-playing, peer groups and workshops. Changed attitude and behavior through developed problem-solving skills. 7) 80% Boys showed better communication with parents. The social activities promoted family unity, bonding among participants that improved social skills. 8) 95% Boys was mentored by positive male role models. 9) 80% Single mothers strengthen parenting skills and improved communication skills to deal better with (sons) and family. Empowering the family values by creating an atmosphere of dialogue and understanding between parent and child. 10) Served over 100 boys in foster care providing life skill training and workshops. 1. Life Coaching – Mothers or/and Sons 93,000+ Juvenile Offenders National in Juvenile Justice System; Average cost $90,000+ a year to incarcerate. It is cost-effective to spend time, energy, and a little money now than a juvenile to enter the juvenile justice system; that can be a pipeline for jail or prison.
