About This Cause
Extreme Response International is a 501c(3) humanitarian organization, founded in 2001, in Quito Ecuador. We started by serving families who were living in the Zambiza Dump by providing nutrition, children's programs, daycare, medical care, and counseling. Today, we operate a program near the Zambiza Dump as well as a Children's Home and Women's Business Development programs in Manila and an After School program in South Africa. We have 29 Partners in 11 countries who work in settlements and squatter communities where homelessness, hunger, disease, and deep poverty are acute. We work alongside nationals who provide food, nutrition, showers, medical assistance, life skills training, job training, pre-school, and leadership development. We strive to create sustainable environments where those impacted by poverty can learn the skills needed to rise above it. We bring volunteer Extreme Teams from North America to help teach, train, engage and support at-risk people. We also operate a leadership community, where local leaders grow their skills through one-on-one coaching, training sessions, materials, and peer networking. Increasingly, we advocate for women because they bear the burden of poverty. We are supporting the rescue and restoration of women trapped in human trafficking in Nepal, Indonesia, and Ecuador. We provide skills training to assist women in being able to care for themselves and their families. In addition, each year we send volunteer teams to Ecuador, South Africa, The Philippines, and Nepal to provide Christmas celebrations to poor children and their families. These celebrations provide gift bags, food staples, crafts, games, entertainment, family photos and more.
