Mission Statement

H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention (HTDI) is a non-profit housing organization serving low-income, chronically homeless individuals and families living with substance abuse, mental health issues, and/or HIV/AIDS related health issues taking consumers from homelessness to homeownership. Some of the most important benefits our program provides are quality housing, rental assistance, and employment training and referral services to aid our participants in maintaining a stable environment and remaining healthy. HTDI’s comprehensive approach to supportive housing includes the following services: safe and stable housing, a dedicated fully staffed facility, comprehensive and individualized case management services, life skills training, and access to additional supportive services such as mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, peer support, and mainstream entitlements. HTDI is an approved State homeownership counseling agency certified to assist first time homeowners with down payment assistance.

About This Cause

HTDI has been in existence since 1997. We have been in service to and we were created for the alleviation of homelessness and poverty. • 2001 we began with 12 transitional housing beds providing housing to chronically homeless men with special needs; substance Abuse, Mental Health and HIV/AIDS. • 2003 we were licensed by the State of Georgia Department of Human Services, Office of Regulatory Services as a Specialized Day Treatment Program. In late 2003, we were accredited by The Georgia Association for Recovery Residence (GARR). • 2005 we expanded transitional housing programs from 12 beds to 21 beds and launched our Open Arms Program which provided housing and supportive services to 9 Transgender individuals living with HIV/AIDS. • 2006 we launched the Helping Others Pursue Excellence (H.O.P.E.) Cafe in partnership with the Fulton County Office of Workforce Development Work Experience (WEX) Apprenticeship Program, with additional support from Chick-Fil-A. Here we employed no/low income Fulton County residents. • 2007 we were approved by United Way as a Supportive Housing Provider; awarded $1.5 million grant through Mayor Shirley Franklin’s Homeless Opportunity Fund through the City of Atlanta’s Invest Atlanta, formerly known as the Atlanta Development Authority. That year we also launched the Project Link Program for gay men living with HIV/AIDS, funded through HUD and Fulton County Ryan White grants, with support of AID-Atlanta and Project No New Cases. • 2008 we partnered with United Way of Metro Atlanta’s Regional Commission on Homelessness to participate in the Shelter to Home initiative providing supportive services to 45 formerly homeless individuals. That year we also launched H.U.G.S. housing 20 formerly women with children. • 2009 we launched the program which we are now seeking funding for, Villas of HOPE, a 37 unit Permanent Supportive Housing complex, providing housing to 37 formerly chronically homeless adult males coping with special needs such as HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, physical disabilities, and mental health related issues. Simultaneously, under President Obama’s $1.5 billion Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Initiative, administered by the City of Atlanta, we implemented our rapid re-housing program for 22 marginally homeless individuals and families. At our opening we made our selves available as a community hub for NPU-J and began offering Community Development Corporation (CDC) services to neighborhood at large providing case management services to nearly 400 residents. • 2010 we were approved by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (State) as a Community Housing and Development Organization (CHDO). We are also approved as a City, County and Federal CHDO, HUD Real Estate Owned (REO) Purchaser, Chase Discounted/Donated REO recipient, and Wells Fargo Discounted/Donated REO recipient. • 2011 we launched H.O.P.E. After Foreclosure, making it possible for individuals and families to remain in their homes after foreclosure, in collaboration with corporate partners, such as The Wells Fargo Bank Foundation and Chase. If the program objectives are met, the individual or family will own their home within five to seven years. • 2012 our H.O.P.E. After Foreclosure program continued to respond to nationwide unprecedented foreclosure rates by expanding to 14 states, including 63 cities, to stabilize neighborhoods and create housing opportunities spanning all socioeconomic groups of individuals and families. • 2013 we launched HTDI Non-Emergency Medical Transportation to provide quality transportation and links to medical and other social services for individuals and families, offering three mobility accommodations: ambulatory, stretcher, and wheelchair. • 2014 we formed collaborative partnerships with Manpower Temporary Services, Dekalb, Clayton, and Fulton County Offices of Workforce Development Program building organizational capacity to meet growing need and demand for requested services. • 2015 we expanded that partnership to include United Way and John Wieland Homes to investigate social enterprises. • 2016 we partnered with PNC and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to provide 1st time home buyers counseling for low to moderate income families. In this effort we help buyers improve credit scores, educate buyers to home ownership realities, gain financing and offer continued case management throughout the buyers ownership. Since 2020 Agency have had over 3000 families served to todate.
