The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County is to help youth of all backgrounds with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.

MISSION STATEMENT “The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County is to help youth of all backgrounds with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.” TO PROVIDE A CORE PROGRAM Character and Leadership Development Education and Career Development Health and Life Skills The Arts Sports, Fitness and Recreation WHICH IMPLEMENTS A YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY • A sense of competence – the feeling there is something a youngster can do and do well. • A sense of usefulness – the opportunity to do something of value for other people. • A sense of belonging – a setting where the individual knows he/she has a place and where he/she “fits” and is accepted. • A sense of power or influence – a chance to be heard and to influence decisions. When the Club and staff reinforce these senses, a bonding to the values represented by the Club and staff take place. When this bonding occurs, there is a tremendous impact in helping them react positively, and an environment created which helps these boys and girls achieve their full potential.
