About This Cause

Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision provides training and other services that are designed to help each person served to maximize his or her independence, including, if applicable, enhancing prospects for gainful employment. All services are provided at no charge to the individual. All direct services are provided by staff trained in visual impairment and rehabilitation programs for the blind. Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision provides training in visual rehabilitation techniques to help improve visual functioning using Optical aids and devices as well as Non-Optical. Aids and devices may include handheld and stand magnifiers, Closed Circuit TV’s, and much more. Programs and services include: Independent Living Early Intervention Children’s Program Transitions for Teens Computer Training: Vocational/Personal Direct Job Placement Job Development Rehabilitation Engineering Supported Employment Vocational Evaluation Referrals to classes may be initiated by ophthalmologists, optometrists, Division of Blind Services counselors, the school districts or individuals who refer themselves. Services are provided at our Tampa and Winter Haven locations. We strive to accomplish our mission by providing the necessary well maintained physical facilities, up-to-date equipment, trained staff, and accurate information systems.
