About This Cause
Founded in 1956, Girl Scouts of Citrus is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls throughout Central Florida. Our mission - to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place - is cultivated through activities and enrichment programs in STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and healthy living. Volunteer-led troop programs are the foundation of Girl Scouting, where girls work with adults to explore new areas of interest, gain valuable skills and foster peer relationships. Enrichment programs highlight a variety of interests, including outdoor adventures, arts and self-expression, sports, careers, travel and science and technology just to name of few. Our programs are synergistic with the Girl Scouts of the USA’s Leadership Development Model, and support the model’s key aspects: Discover, Connect and Take Action. Through our programming, we empower girls to face and meet new challenges, develop their self-esteem, create opportunities for self-actualization, and value and learn from diverse experiences and relationships.
