Mission Statement
The Pioneer Florida Museum Association’s mission is to educate, promote, foster, and encourage public interest in Florida life and history from pioneer times until 1945. In order to accomplish its mission, the Association acquires, collects, preserves, restores, exhibits, interprets, researches and publicizes articles of historical significance aimed at depicting pioneer life in the State of Florida through an organized community effort.
About This Cause
The Pioneer Florida Museum (also dba Pioneer Florida Museum and Village) is usually open 5 days a week for self-guided tours throughout our 6.5 acres of historic buildings and displays. We also invite group guided tours and student field trips. Thousands of students visit the museum each year. We have special Living History Days throughout the year, when you enter the museum it is like you have stepped back in time, hundreds of volunteers in period dress and character giving demonstrations, time period music, traditional crafts, and speakers throughout the day on various, diverse topics. The museum holds classes for example: weaving, card making, and Dutch oven or campfire cooking. The museum grows sugar cane and gives demonstrations and makes cane syrup that we sell in our gift shop. We give blacksmith demonstrations and primitive wood-working demonstrations during field trips and special events.
