Mission Statement
Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc. (WOCCF) is a non-profit 501c3 that addresses the unmet needs of people of color, to eliminate disparities in health, education, economic development, and other areas that affect the equality and common good of the community. In addition, WOCCF provides scholarships for high school students seeking college degrees. WOCCF provides conferences, lectures, workshops, mentoring, and family life enhancements, particularly in the areas of health, education, and economic development.
About This Cause
Signature Programs include: Heart of a Woman Luncheon – a forum which addresses cardiovascular disease in women. This event is held in February in conjunction with the National Go Red for Women Day. Universal Teen Scholarship Program - promotes global awareness by focusing on cultural diversity and attributes of various countries around the world. This is a wonderful educational experience to assist young women and young men in the development of leadership and communications skills. The life skills management workshops have empowered these young adults to realize and embrace their inner beauty and self-worth, their personal and professional goals, and gain respect for human differences. Since its inception, the Women of Color Cultural Foundation, Inc. has provided over $150,000 in scholarships. Emerging Stars - Honoring First Responders for what they do. Scholarships given to high school students seeking careers as a First Responder. Health Symposium for People of All Nations – a health program designed as an annual community partnership. Participants are provided information on various health issues and learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The symposium consists of three major components: screenings and exhibitors, adult workshops, and Adolescents Choosing Excellence (ACE) Youth Summit. Ebony and Ivory Gala – a black-tie affair which recognizes women who have made significant contributions in health, education, and economic development. In addition, a community service agency is recognized for its outstanding contributions. Proceeds from the Gala support scholarships and various community initiatives including the activities of the Foundation. Fifty Stars Gala: Honoring Outstanding First Responders for the heroic duties they perform everyday to serve and protect the lives of others. Proceeds from the gala provide scholarships to Emerging Stars. To date $21,000 awarded.
