Mission Statement
The Marnel C. Moorman Family Life Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to the spiritual, social, physical, and economic development of individuals in this community. We strive to be a safe place where youth can socialize and discover their God-given talents in a non-threatening environment. We believe robust education, exposure to new opportunities, and holistic empowerment is the best pathway to positively impact the lives of the members of our community, especially the next generation.
About This Cause
Marnel C. Moorman Family Life Center has been a staple in the minority community of Shelbyville, KY. We've hosted many basketball leagues, mentoring, and roller-skating events. Our facilities consist of a gymnasium, walking track, computer lab, game room, and commercial kitchen space. During COVID we lost our director. This year we were able to reopen our doors with a new director and programming. We offer health and wellness, tutoring and academic enrichment, arts and crafts, a gaming club, life skills, and open gym. We are building partnerships with colleges and universities near our location and expanding upon the partnerships we have with the local schools. We focus on our 3 E’s: Education, Exposure, and Empowerment. These three things when given to youth can change their own personal circumstances and in turn the trajectory of their lives. MCM FLC is unique in that it is the only community center type of organization in the community. Our doors are open to anyone in the community however, we primarily serve low income and single families. We have programs for youth and adults. We really believe in serving our community.
