Mission Statement
The mission of the FTEF is to support the educational excellence of the public schools of Fort Thomas, Kentucky by providing funds beyond the operating budget for educational programs and activities for students and staff.
About This Cause
The Fort Thomas Education Foundation (FTEF), a 501©(3) IRS designated non-profit, was created in 1992. The FTEF’s mission is to raise funds for special school projects or initiatives that are unable to be financed through the school district’s general operating budget. FTEF funds are used to ensure educational excellence by supplementing equipment and capital needs, and expanding community resources through the active involvement of individuals, businesses, and civic organizations. The scope of the foundation’s responsibility is to support the efforts of the school district, not to replace them. The foundation funds special projects and provides funding for needs that are beyond traditional resources. The money we raise is used to fund requested teacher grants, our endowment fund, and educational needs that exceed the district's operating budget. The Board of Directors vote on how the funds are allocated. The Board is thoughtful with their approach to allocating dollars, ensuring that all five schools within the District are included. Why are private funds necessary? The state of Kentucky’s funding formula for schools does not provide enough support to adequately cover the District's needs. As a result, the Ft. Thomas Independent School District must supplement state funding in order to provide all of the resources necessary to ensure that our schools remain award-winning and offer academic excellence.
