Mission Statement
Prepare and equip the future leaders of the community. Provide high quality early education as a means to overcome poverty, reduce AIDS, gender inequality and political oppression to needy children would otherwise receive no education or a deeply inferior one. Make education central to the community and remove obstacles to education such as health, poverty, hunger, confidence, lack of information and despair. Monitor and assist Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat graduates with tutoring, meals, and other essential resources as they continue their education after they leave our school
About This Cause
The Fregenet Foundation is a 501 (c ) (3) non-profit organization committed to bridging educational disparities for impoverished children in Ethiopia. In the fall of 2004, the Fregenet Kidan Lehitsanat school opened its doors in Addis Ababa providing education to 31 children. As of 2023, there have been over 600 graduates. Additional services are also provided to students such as free annual health checkups, breakfast and hot lunch, uniforms, stationeries, as well as a clinic, a library, and computer lab for the surrounding communities. Replicating this model, another school, Fregenet Dembi Elementary School has recently opened in Bishoftu to providing education to more children in need from underserved communities.
