EXPRESSIVE ARTS INSTITUTE OF OREGON

PORTLAND, Oregon, 97203-3821 United States

Mission Statement

Our mission is to use the arts as a vehicle to enable learners of all ages to heal, strengthen and create healthy communities together. We use art as a process - rather than performance - and in combination with formal research-based approaches to assessment and growth, people discover new ways their creativity has meaning for them. We measure our success by assessing people’s ability to apply this work as a transformative tool for themselves and with others, personally and professionally in their communities.

About This Cause

We offer programs for children and their teachers/caregivers using an expressive arts curriculum (process, not performance) for growth and transformation. For adults we offer both long and short-form programs in expressive arts. ==== Children's programs: We use expressive arts with children of all ages and their parents/caregivers to discover opportunities for growth and transformation missing from other curricula. We partner with Portland Public Schools, Reynolds School District and Non-Profit Organizations including Metropolitan Family Services, Self-Enhancement Inc People for Parks, Schools Uniting Neighborhoods, SwapnPlay. We serve a broad range of demographics. === Long-form adult program: 500-hour Expressive Arts - Advanced Training and Certification Program in Movement-based Expressive Arts through International Association of Somatic Education and Therapy.
