Mission Statement
The Literacy Council improves the lives of adults and their families through literacy education that teaches people to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
About This Cause
Literacy is essential. Literacy is transformative. Literacy is the solution. Higher literacy rates improve our community as whole and result in higher employment rates and increased educational attainment. TLC programs include one-on-one or small group instruction for adult basic literacy or remedial reading; community classes for English Speakers of Other Languages; GED preparation; family literacy; workforce developmentand more. TLC provides more than 6,000 hours of tutoring annually.
