Mission Statement

The Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, Inc. is a not for profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced; providing or locating a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released; and educating the public towards the importance of coexistence with all wild bird species.

About This Cause

Incorporated in 1988, the Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center, Inc. officially opened its doors as an organization in 1991. The organization and its functions are divided into two separate locations: the Mission Wild Bird Hospital and the Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary. The Mission Wild Bird Hospital, built in early 2014, is divided into four areas - the avian rehabilitation hospital, administrative offices, gift shop, and visitor education center. The Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility where staff admit and treat sick, injured, and orphaned native and migratory birds. The Hospital admits over 1000 birds every year. The Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary serves as a humane, natural refuge for over 80 non-releasable birds, representing almost 30 different species. For the everyday visitor, our Sanctuary boardwalk offers the opportunity for a self-guided tour along our enclosures with educational signs, ending at the bay. The Sanctuary is open 365 days per year.
