Mission Statement
Willie Mae Rock Camp (WMRC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls and gender-expansive youth through music education and mentorship.
About This Cause
Willie Mae Rock Camp engages students ages 11-17 in musical discovery and expression, and provides them with opportunities, skills, and resources to develop and amplify their creative voices – not only through instrument instruction but also through sound-based technology lessons on recording devices, software, and applications. Founded in 2004, Willie Mae Rock Camp was the second rock camp for girls in the U.S. Over time, we expanded beyond our flagship summer camp to year-round programming in partnership with organizations and schools throughout NYC, and have helped thousands of girls and gender-expansive youth discover the power of their voices through music.
