Mission Statement

The specific purpose of the Corporation is for medical research, including basic and clinical investigation into the nature, diagnosis, treatment and cure for metabolic disorders such as diabetes

About This Cause

The Aoki Diabetes Research Institute (ADRI) in Sacramento, California is a non-profit organization dedicated to research in the areas of diabetes and metabolism. The main focus of current research is a unique type of insulin therapy for the treatment of diabetes that markedly improves diabetic complications. MAT® treatment, also called metabolic activation therapy, has had many names over the past 20 years such as: hepatic activation, chronic intermittent intravenous insulin therapy (CIIIT), pulsatile intravenous insulin therapy (PIVIT). At this time, MAT® treatment is indicated for patients with diabetes who have progressive diabetic complications despite following the American Diabetes Association and American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists recommended treatment guidelines. The addition of MAT® treatment to current recommended therapy can reduce hypoglycemic attacks (dangerously low blood sugar) and resolve, stabilize or delay many complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, damage to the retina of the eye, orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure), foot ulcers, gastroparesis (slow emptying of the stomach) and painful neuropathy of the feet and legs. Besides improving or stabilizing diabetic complications, a program of weekly MAT® treatments given over many years prevents further complications from appearing.
