Pacific Forest Trust's mission is to sustain America’s forests for all of their benefits of wood, water, wildlife, and people’s well-being, in cooperation with landowners and communities.
About This Cause
We are a visionary “think-and-do” organization of scientists, conservationists, policy wonks, entrepreneurs, and outdoor enthusiasts that has helped shape forest conservation and climate policy since 1993. PFT is unique among forest conservation organizations. We connect science, business, forestry, conservation, sustainability, environmentalist and rural communities to find common ground in protecting forests. We bring specific expertise to solving the challenge of conserving working forest landscapes across ownerships. This is essential to maintaining well-functioning forests and forest economies, addressing climate change, and protecting healthy watersheds. We work effectively with a broad coalition of landowners, foresters, policymakers, agencies, scientists, community leaders, NGOs and other stakeholders, bridging political and cultural differences to solve common problems and promote shared goals. PFT pioneers ideas at the state level, demonstrates them and then provides expertise to other states and nationally. We have a proven track record of implementing tangible, practical and innovative solutions in partnership with landowners, agencies and communities. Our work empowers landowners and communities to become the long-term stewards of natural resources, understanding how protecting forests directly benefits people, wildlife, water security, and climate resilience.
