Mission Statement

The Maria Carrillo High School Association is the primary parent organization on campus. We seek to enhance all students' educational and social experiences, support MCHS and its staff, and promote active parent, staff, community, and business involvement in Maria Carrillo High School.

About This Cause

The Maria Carrillo High School Association is a nonprofit association incorporated in 1996, the year our school was begun. It is run by parent volunteers, with its primary goals to raise funds to enhance the educational experience of all students on campus and to recruit volunteers for various campus events . The Association works with the school's principal, and a staff liaison, to identify areas in which funds can complement the work of the teachers and staff. In some cases, after we have funded a program for a time, the school district has recognized the value of that program, and has taken over its funding (as with turnitin.com, which checks students' essays for plagiarism). In recent years, we have focused on funding a number of technology enhancements, such as document cameras, iPads for teachers, and wireless printers, which have been distributed only to those teachers who have demonstrated a willingness to use these items in the classroom to help students process information and understand the material. Most of our teachers now are using a grading software we fund that makes it much easier for students and parents to have realtime grading information, including missing homework, which has freed up teachers' time so they do not need to respond to many different parents' phone and email enquiries. The response from parents has been enthusiastic.
