About This Cause

Mission: Forest Heights Soccer Club is a recreational organization dedicated to introducing young players to the joys of soccer. The Club strives to teach our players skills, teamwork and a love of the game The Club has over 200 Kindergarten through 5th grade players participating on boys and girls teams in 6 age groups; FHSC generally serves the Northwest Portland community and its schools FHSC is not a year-round program but only runs a fall and a spring season Team Formation Goals The goal of the Forest Heights Soccer Club (FHSC) team formation policy is to create teams that have a mix of players with varied skills and abilities. If all teams are formed according to this goal, each team will compete at about the same level and this will make for a more enjoyable experience for all players. Any attempt by a coach or parent to recruit players to their team is specifically prohibited and violates this policy and the spirit of the recreational soccer. Specifically our team formation goals are: (1) Allow all youth to participate so that everyone who wants to play can (2) Form recreational teams that include all levels of skills and abilities (3) Form as many teams as possible with the minimum number of players to maximize playing time for each individual player. Did you know... Playing sports boosts self-confidence. Kids who play sports feel better about themselves. Why? It builds confidence when you know you can practice, improve and achieve your goals. Sports are also a feel-good activity because they help kids get in shape, maintain healthy lifestyles and make new friends. Girls who play sports do better in school. You might think that athletics would take up too much study time, but research shows that girls who play sports do better in school than those who don't. Exercise improves learning, memory, and concentration, which can give active girls an advantage in the classroom. Sports are good for our kids' health. In addition to being fit and maintaining a healthy weight, kids who play sports are also less likely to smoke. And later in life, girls who exercise are less likely to get breast cancer or osteoporosis. Kids who play sports learn teamwork and goal-setting skills. Sports teaches valuable life skills. When you work with coaches, trainers, and teammates to win games and achieve goals, you're learning how to be successful.
