About This Cause
Members of Laguna Ocean Foundation (LOF) educate the public on intertidal organisms, intertidal ecology and marine protected areas (MPAs). Volunteers (Docents) and Marine Biologists (Educators) cover eight sites throughout Laguna Beach, everyday* at low tide. Educators additionally document behavior, diversity and shore use in the Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve. During the summer our interns dive deeper into research. In 2012, all of Laguna Beach was established as a marine protected area in result of LOF’s efforts and partnerships. *We do our best; closures can occur due to weather or safety concerns
