Mission Statement
The New Orleans Mission is about changing lives and leading people to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ.; besides providing food, clothing, shelter and spiritual guidance to the region’s homeless, hurting and hungry. our programs and services are designed to rescue people from homelessness, strengthen the recovery efforts of the people seeking our support, and ultimately foster a successful re-engagement into society as healthy, disciplined, productive individuals who have a renewed passion to lead a sustainable purpose driven life.
About This Cause
Founded in 1989, the New Orleans Mission provided shelter, food and spiritual guidance to growing number of homeless individuals living in our city as a new member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions. Today the Mission is the largest faith-based private service provider to the homelessness population In the greater New Orleans Metro area. Our core value is changing lives, which we do through a variety of holistically designed programs and services created to meet the mental, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the people seeking our support. Our strategy is Rescue, Recovery, and Re-engagement. We rescue people from physical and sexual abuse, human trafficking, illness, financial hardship, and addictions; we strengthen the recovery efforts of our program participants; and foster their successful re-engagement into society as healthy, skilled individuals ready to lead a sustainable, productive, purpose-driven life. We provide free medical services at our onsite clinic run by LSU and Tulane's medical teams and offer Divine Staffing to our program participants who can receive vocational training and on-the-job-training with paid income after six months in our recovery progam. A transition period is offered to graduates of our recovery program with free housing, mentoring, placed employment, resume development, and legal support for those women seeking custidy of their children.
