Mission Statement
The Philadelphia Center is the only HIV/AIDS community-based organization serving the nine-parish region of Northwest Louisiana. The mission is to empower those affected by HIV/AIDS and STDs through education and service.
About This Cause
The Philadelphia Center offers professional Client Services to PLWHA (People Living with HIV/AIDS), prevention services such as Testing and Education, and the permanent housing facility called The Mercy Center as it's major programs to serve Northwest Louisiana and the central community of Shreveport/Bossier City. Client Services include housing assistance, on-site food pantry, mental health and substance abuse counseling, group therapy, transportation, emergency assistance with utility and rent/mortgage payments, referrals for additional services, and the collaboration with the MLK Health Center resulting in a once-a-month HIV specialty clinic. Prevention Services include outreach, HIV testing, community education and awareness events, the SIHLE African American teenager program, and the PC Wellness Center providing HIV and STD testing for men. The Mercy Center provides holistic, supportive service to PLWHA who are formerly homeless and encompasses three buildings in downtown Shreveport.
