Mission Statement
A prison ministry that provides support services to families and individuals who have been impacted by incarceration, in order to help facilitate a reduction in the crime and violence that threatens our neighborhoods and families.
About This Cause
Operation Hope Prison Ministry is a 501 (c) (3) that provides counseling, tutoring, and mentoring services to the men, women and children who have been impacted by incarceration. Support services to this population are offered to promote a decreasing recidivism and fewer first time offenders among their children, as well as "breaking the cycle" of generational incarceration. Operation Hope has three programs which include: Pre-Release program, Post-Release program, and a Children's program. Classes for our Pre-Release program include: Victims Impact, Inside Out Dads, C.D.L, Reintegration, Uprooting Anger, and our David L. Moss Juvenile program in which volunteers mentor juveniles who have been tried with adult crimes. Operation Hope's Post-Release program helps felons getting out of prison with the basic needs such as clothing, bus passes, housing, identification, felon friendly job listings, and additional resources, as well as case management and follow-up. Operation Hope's Children's program includes: Angel Tree - during Christmas time presents are provided to children who have incarcerated parents; Play Day - children are taken down to Eddie Warriors three times a year to visit their mothers and grandmothers; Bedtime Stories - children are sent story books along with CD recordings of their incarcerated Dad's voices reading them a story with a positive message of love; other children mentoring activities include outings that are organized for trips to the zoo, basketball game, football game, or museum where Operation Hope volunteers help in mentoring children who have incarcerated parents.
