Mission Statement

Prevent Blindness Oklahoma is the state's leading volunteer eye health and safety organization, established in 1965. We are beginning our 49th year of providing free vision screenings to children in all 77 counties of Oklahoma. Our focus for the 2013-2014 school year is "Making Every Child's Vision Count" as we count down to our 50th anniversary in 2015.

About This Cause

Established in 1965, Prevent Blindness Oklahoma is the only non-profit agency in Oklahoma whose primary focus is preserving sight and preventing blindness.Prevent Blindness Oklahoma is an affiliate of the national organization, Prevent Blindness America, which was founded in 1908. Children’s Vision Screening is the cornerstone program of Prevent Blindness Oklahoma. We provide free vision screening for children 6 months through 12th grade in preschools, day care centers, Head Start Centers, public and private schools in all 77 counties of Oklahoma. We also offer Vision Service Plan benefit vouchers for free exams and glasses for families who qualify. Vision health and safety information as well as vision screening for adults and children is offered at community, corporate and school health fairs. Prevent Blindness Oklahoma is currently the only state approved agency who provides Children’s Vision Screener and Children’s Vision Screener Trainer certification classes to school staff, nurses, and healthcare professionals
