Mission Statement
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio seeks to inspire youth, especially those who need us most, to achieve their full potential in a safe, positive, and engaging environment that promotes education, health, and character development.
About This Cause
Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio has inspired and empower youth (aged 6-18) to build Great Futures since 1939. Our facility-based programming offers young people equitable access to supportive relationships and resources, reinforcing personal commitments to education, positive values, healthy life choices, and high expectations. Our six freestanding Clubhouses are open weekdays, year-round, from 3PM to 6:30PM during the school year and 7AM to 6PM during summer. In addition to our Clubhouses, we offer extended day programming to nineteen (19) elementary & middle school campuses in Harlandale and Edgewood ISDs during the academic year. As our youth arrive after school, our day begins with "Power Hour," an hour dedicated to homework help and completion, tutoring, and additional reading and math supportive services and small groups. Youth then rotate through age-appropriate activities such as playground and gym time; sports practice; fine arts and/or STEAM; and Boys & Girls of America (BGCA) structured, targeted curriculum. Annually, we seek to serve 4,000 grade-school youth (i.e., aged 6-18) and reach the following targets: 1. 90% of youth will progress to the next grade level and/or graduate; 2. 90% of youth will maintain and/or improve their academic grades in core subjects; 3. 80% of youth will demonstrate improved decision-making skills; 4. 80% of youth will show growth in their social-emotional wellbeing. Guided by the BGCA "Formula for Impact" strategy, we provide a structured schedule of programming and activities designed to keep at-risk youth engaged in school and out of trouble. Our goal is to ensure that every Club member, regardless of their income, neighborhood, or ethnicity, graduates from high school prepared with a solid plan for their future, leading their peers in a positive direction and making healthy life choices.
