Mission Statement

The Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America pursues a mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law through a unique educational program for boys and young adults - building character, training in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and developing personal fitness. The Sam Houston Area Council, partners with hundreds of community organizations and congregations through which Scouting programs are delivered throughout a demographically diverse 16 county service area.

About This Cause

Cub Scouts: Serves 1st – 5th grade boys; focusing on family participation, boys working in small groups; learning about their community and the world around them; growing in character, strengthening families and equipping boys with life skills. Boy Scouts: Serves 6th – 12th grade boys; focusing on character, leadership development, life-skills and achievement in an outdoor setting. Venturing: Serves males and females ages 14–20; focusing on leadership, high adventure, the outdoors, teamwork and organization. Exploring: Serves males and females ages 14-20; focusing on work-site based career education, leadership and life-skills. Learning for Life: Serves males and females from pre-kindergarten through 20 years of age provides site based character education, leadership and career education in Title I schools.
