Mission Statement
Interfaith of The Woodlands is a non-profit social service organization providing a vast array of programs and services to individuals, families, children and seniors.
About This Cause
Since its incorporation in 1973, Interfaith of The Woodlands has helped to establish local congregations and has assisted with the development of social services for South Montgomery and North Harris Counties. Interfaith is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that has a vision to provide the resources and tools necessary for individuals to improve and sustain their quality of life. This unique non-profit has carried out a wide variety of programs to help people in crisis meet current needs and assess new areas of required assistance. The mission of Interfaith is to "build a more loving and caring community through service," and this goal has been successfully achieved for nearly 50 years. Interfaith Programs and Services assists seniors, families, and individuals residing in the zip code ranges of 77380-77386, 77389, 77375 (Village of Creekside Park), and 77354 (Village of Sterling Ridge). The Programs & Services Department of Interfaith of The Woodlands exists to evaluate needs and provide assistance to children, individuals, families and seniors. Programs & Services strives to assist each client in achieving self-sufficiency and independence while maintaining his or her dignity and self-worth. Although many clients served are the working poor, most clients served are assisted because of an unforeseen crisis. Eligibility for Interfaith’s financial assistance is not income based. Crisis knows no boundaries. Unemployment, sickness, and family breakdown can strike any socioeconomic group; therefore, Interfaith assistance is available to individuals experiencing a documented financial loss (regardless of household income). Thus, this inclusivity is just one aspect that makes Interfaith truly unique and valuable in its service area. The goal of Interfaith Senior Services is to improve the quality of life of local senior adults by enabling them to maintain their health, well-being, independence, and participation. Interfaith provides transportation, guidance, resources, activities, grocery delivery, home visits, home maintenance, personal care items, special events and worship services to the senior population. These services offer assistance to senior citizens who might not otherwise be able to maintain an active, independent lifestyle. In 2014, Interfaith Senior Services had 20,914 service contacts which assisted in meeting the basic needs of the senior population in the Interfaith service area while strengthening both the social and economic frameworks surrounding them. Financial crisis can affect people of all ages such as families with children in Interfaith’s service area. No child should go hungry or struggle from the lack of basic needs. Interfaith provides for the basic needs of children, individuals, seniors and families through distribution of non-perishable food items, fresh produce from the Interfaith Community Donation Garden, Hand Me Up Shop clothing vouchers, baby formula, baby food, diapers, and hygiene products (such as laundry soap). Many residents are surprised to learn that a number of the schools in the Interfaith service area have 30-40% of their students qualified for and enrolled in Free and Reduced Lunch programs. At Interfaith, these children are assisted via school supplies programs, weekend backpacks full of food, and holiday assistance programs that lighten the financial burden on their struggling families.
