Mission Statement
Our mission is to save as many animal lives in Houston as possible in cooperation with local rescue organizations.
About This Cause
Founded in 1979, Special Pals is committed to making life better for animals in Houston. We offer animal adoptions, provide affordable temporary boarding services to partner rescues, and host low-cost wellness clinics to support our neighbors and their pets. It’s our passion to empower our community to support animal health and safety, and we envision the day when Houston is the Gold Standard for animal welfare. Community support powers every program within our organization, from the care and feeding of our adoptable dogs and cats to the expansion and improvement of our facility. We continue to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the at-risk animals in our region, and with community cooperation the future of Houston’s animals is full of hope and love. We offer volunteer opportunities, including organizing group service days. Our life-saving programs also include fostering opportunities for puppies, kittens, dogs, and cats, including pregnant and nursing animals.
