Mission Statement
When you support River City Youth Foundation (RCYF) in Dove Springs, it’s no ordinary support role. Your time, talents, and resources are making an impression with the largest youth community in all of Austin. The majority of these youth are low-income Latinos. It’s not a cliché. With the right spark and guidance, these young people have the enormous potential to become Austin’s next generation of groundbreakers and bilingual savvy leaders. As a supporter at RCYF, every hour and dollar that you invest is truly helping to eliminate the educational and technology divide in Austin’s most underserved community --- Dove Springs. The talents that come so easy to you can help youth develop the skills to truly change their future and the quality of life for their family. About This Cause
For over 30 years River City Youth Foundation has focused all of our resources on the most needy families in Austin with best practices neighborhood-based after school youth development activities that help transform lives as well as community. Our Mission: To help youth and families in Dove Springs (Southeast Austin 78744) live safe, healthy, and prosperous lives. Our Vision: To be an exemplary model of comprehensive neighborhood-based youth and family services that maximizes every child’s potential and improves communities. In today’s global economy our vision is to make Dove Springs a 21st Century hub for workforce talent and educational opportunities – Wired & Inspired with: 1) safe learning environments, 2) constructive educational and therapeutic activities, 3) personal growth and self-improvement opportunities, 4) successful coordination of social services, 5) mobilization of community resources and active community involvement, 6) improvement of neighborhoods and the well-being of residents, 7) assistance to individuals in pursuit of college and careers. Our Goal *To provide a safe, engaging, and robustly connected learning environment for youth, families, and volunteers at our beautiful two acre parkland youth facility. Thanks to hundreds of corporate and neighborhood volunteers a once drug-infested site is now a safe place for kids and the winner of a national Keep America Beautiful Award. What do we do with kids in Dove Springs? Provide year-round after school homework help services providing: Mentors for over 200 youth Technology training for 2000 youth Counseling and case management services for the poorest of the poor Community events for over 5000 youth and families to promote family strengthening, neighborhood safety, and 21st Century global learning. Year-round program/services currently provided: Counseling, mentoring, tech training, drug prevention, tutoring, nutritious meals, and annual community events promote safety, education, family bonding (eg, Fathers Parade promotes positive Dads and STEM education.
