Mission Statement

Operation Blue Santa is a non-profit organization that was established in 1978 with the mission of providing food and toys to underprivileged families and Seniors at Christmas time.

About This Cause

In the first year, fewer than twenty families were served. Every year the numbers have increased and currently over 465 families are served. Blue Santa is supported entirely by the community in the form of donations from schools, individuals and businesses. There are very few overhead expenses, so ultimately all contributions go back to the community. Recipients of Blue Santa file an application with the Round Rock Police Department during a four-week period from middle November, through early December. Blue Santa personnel then verify the applications. They also receive requests from the businesses and private individuals to adopt certain families and RRPD then decides which families will be adopted and which families will be served. Delivery date is commonly the first Friday that students are out of school for Christmas break. Volunteers sort, pack, wrap and deliver the goods to families who have applied for assistance. Currently, the only requirements to receive assistance are that the applications be completed fully and truthfully and that the family resides within the city limits of Round Rock. Verification of the applications is dependent upon families that have school aged children enrolled in the Round Rock Independent School District. In addition, Blue Santa also provides emergency funds to individuals and families on a case-by-case basis throughout the year. Senior citizens in need can also receive gifts from Blue Santa.
