Austin Opera is resolute in its mission to produce world-class operatic performances and education programs that enrich the lives of Central Texans.
About This Cause
Austin Opera strives to be a valuable community resource and civic asset for Central Texans. Founded in 1986 as the city's first professional opera company, the company has grown steadily, now serving more than 30,000 community members annually. In its 32-year history, the company has produced more than 100 operatic productions, reached more than 150,000 children through its education programs, and developed strong community partnerships with numerous educational and nonprofit institutions. During the 2018-2019 Season, the company launched Opera ATX, an initiative designed to engage new audiences and support local artists and opera organizations in Austin.
