Mission Statement

The Shemer Art Center is situated in one of the first homes built in Arcadia, in 1919. It is a true “home for the arts” that provides a unique and inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors to enjoy and learn about visual art, through classes, lectures, workshops, exhibits and events. Areas of instruction offered year-round by professional teaching artists include basic drawing, colored pencil, painting, printmaking, ceramics, fused glass, mixed media and collage, photography and jewelry-making. Additional features of the Shemer Art Center include a boutique gift shop plus an outdoor sculpture garden, both featuring beautiful, one-of-a-kind works of art created by some of Arizona’s most talented artists, for viewing and for sale, which fosters the organization's mission since 1984 to support and showcase Arizona artists.

About This Cause

The non-profit Shemer Art Center & Museum Association, Inc. (SACAMA) organization runs the daily operations of the Shemer Art Center. We impact people's lives daily through art, connecting them, inspiring them, providing camaraderie and comfort, teaching new skills and sharing visual arts with the community. Our students range in age from 6-96 and we serve residents and visitors of the Phoenix metropolitan area and the entire state of Arizona as a City of Phoenix Point of Pride.
