Mission Statement
Energy Outreach Colorado leads a network of industry, state and local partners to Support, Stabilize and Sustain Coloradans to afford their energy needs.
About This Cause
As the only nonprofit in Colorado that raises funds to help income-qualified Coloradans afford home energy, Energy Outreach Colorado, (EOC), has helped residents remain warm and safe in their homes since 1989. With the help of partner assistance organizations and subcontractors across the state, we help our state’s most vulnerable pay for their home energy bills and repair or replace furnaces to maintain their well-being and encourage self-sufficiency to avoid dangerous living conditions or the possibility of homelessness. EOC also invests in energy efficiency upgrades for affordable housing units and Colorado nonprofit facilities and supports energy conservation and education efforts. Current Programs: Emergency Assistance and Safety Programs - Energy Bill Assistance Program: This program provides year-round funds to our energy assistance delivery network in order to help low-income families and seniors afford home energy. - Crisis Intervention Program (CIP): EOC provides emergency home furnace repair or replacement for income-qualifying Coloradans. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Programs: - Nonprofit Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP): NEEP helps nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable individuals and families make their facilities more energy-efficient. - Multi-Family Energy Efficiency Program: This program is designed to increase the energy efficiency of heating, cooling, lighting and refrigeration in low-income housing units; educate consumers about energy conservation; and reduce the overall energy cost burden to the end payer. - Single-Family Weatherization Program: This program matches limited-income families that own their homes with Colorado weatherization agencies that receive rebates for installing certain efficiency measures in low-income homes. - Energy Behavior Change and Education Program: This program provides current energy efficiency recipients opportunities to maximize realized energy savings by introducing and engaging them in energy-saving behavior changes through education, outreach, and motivation. - Advocacy and Energy Policy Program: EOC is an advocate for low-income ratepayers throughout Colorado and supports affordable energy policies. EOC works at the state legislature and with the Public Utilities Commission on behalf of all limited-income Colorado energy consumers. - Solar Energy Program: Community Solar Gardens provide an accessible and equitable way for households to participate in renewable energy programs and be a part of the clean energy transformation. Through this program, EOC connects income-qualified households to community solar credits which lower their monthly utility costs.
