GALA Choruses is a vibrant and collaborative community organization that supports. guides, and inspires LGBTQ+ identified choruses and their allies to leverage the liberating power of singing together to create a more harmonious and equitable society for all.
About This Cause
GALA Choruses helps GLBT choruses across North America and around the world to achieve artistic and administrative excellence so they have a voice for years to come. It provides a roadmap to success for emerging organizations, a path to sustainability for mature organizations, and tools for growth for all choruses, big and small. But GALA Choruses does more than that. The GALA choral community provides a safe haven for people of all ages to be themselves, to stand together proudly, and make their voices heard. We change hearts and minds as we create change through the power of song. VALUES: o We elevate and promote the work and accomplishments of the LGBTQ+ choral movement o We educate and inspire member organizations to do their best work o We foster social activism and artistic impact through choral music o We provide our constituents with platforms for connection, collaboration, and creativity (combined this value with the connection value) o We expand our understanding of community by ensuring equity, access, and belonging for all o We grow comfortable with “new norms” and continue to work towards building spaces that create equity, access and belonging for all of our membership
