AUSTIN, Texas, 78705-1449 United States

Mission Statement

The mission of Great Promise for American Indians is to preserve the traditions, heritage and culture of Native Americans, and to support the health and education needs of their youth and families. We do this to honor the past, and to ensure the future. We will achieve this mission by: Supporting programs that preserve the traditions, heritage and culture of all Native American people. Dispelling myths about Native Americans, and educating the public about their many cultures. Sponsoring and conducting the annual Austin Powwow and Native Market. Supporting the health and education needs of Native American youth and their families and networking with other groups and organizations that share our goals and values.

About This Cause

Great Promise for American Indians was founded in 1991, after future members returned from the historic White House Conference on American Indians. Since that time, GPAI has worked to connect the Native American community with the public, educational institutions, museums, government agencies, and corporations for a more accurate understanding of both historical and modern Native American customs, traditions and lifestyles. Organized and incorporated in 1992, GPAI reaches beyond state boundaries to find artists and ambassadors to carry out its mission.
