Mission Statement

The mission of the American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Missions is to work for the preservation and protection of the culture and traditions of the Tap Pilam Coahuiltecan Nation and other indigenous people in the Spanish Colonial Missions in South Texas and Northern Mexico through: education, research, community outreach, economic development projects, and legislative initiatives at the federal, state and local levels.

About This Cause

The American Indians In Texas At The Spanish Colonial Missions (AIT-SCM) is a non-profit organization currently celebrating their 30 year anniversary of cultural healing and empowerment! Our programs consist of 3 major branches: Family Health & Wellness, Cultural Arts, And our Office of Community Engagement. Family Health & Wellness focuses on the following initiatives: Mission of Motherhood, SA Fatherhood Campaign, parenting classes, Seventh Generation Doula services, Reflejo Court, youth leadership development, and many other initiatives focused on healing the family. Cultural Arts focuses on the following initiatives: all things cultural arts! We offer beadwork classes, ribbon skirt making, culturally relevant events, house the very first Native American art gallery in San Antonio, digital archives, education, etc. Office of Community Engagement focuses on the following initiatives: civic engagement, urban native equity, land sovereignty, community engagement, economic development, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women awareness, many more.
